01/31/21 Session

"The Letter E."

General Summary

Session begins with party breaking camp to enter the third leyline location being held by The Order: The Clocktower. In game date: March 29th.   As the party approaches the tower Ossu does initial scouting: does not see any guards posted outside and estimates the tower to be roughly 100-150ft tall.   Entering the tower the party does not meet any resistance in the form of cultists or their undead minions which they had encountered in the previous locations and in Basaltwood. Instead the party is confronted with a gauntlet of riddles and puzzles, 12 in total, they they must solve before they are able to move to the next floor of the tower. After solving each the party is given a reward that the quality of seemingly depends on the amount of time spent reaching the solution.   Reaching the peak of the tower they find a single cultist waiting for them - a gnome wearing black robes, a pointed red hat, glasses and the familiar amulet bearing the iconic symbol. The gnome initially tries to talk the party down, asking what it would take for them to just leave - but resorts to combat when Daxis rushes in using his Echo.   The gnome displays that he too is able to drastically alter his body, like the two previous leaders faced, when he sprouts large (for his size) grotesque wings. The battle ensues with the gnome taking flight, turning invisible, summoning 3 strange creatures to aid him (including a Spectator which the party had some knowledge of) and casting spells from the air as his summons battled the party.   The party deals with the summons, and nullifies the gnome's invisibility with Otto's faerie fire spell (he'd found where the gnome was thanks to the streak of light from fireball and Droop's spiritual weapon hitting the gnome). After the gnome lost his advantage of being invisible the party was able to make short work of him. Daxis noted the familiar feeling of the anti-fey barrier dissipating once the gnome was killed.   While traveling back to Senaliesse Ossu converses with the gnome while wearing the obtained ring - trying to get more information out of him. The only thing the gnome lets slip is that he joined The Order so that he could further his research. The party also encounters the talking scarecrow for a third time - this time Daxis takes him up on his offer of "One story for one magic item". Daxis tells him a quick nursery rhyme which the scarecrow gives him a Cloak of Elvenkind in exchange. Ossu also rescues a talking fox from a hunting trap, the fox grants him the "boon" of being able to smell colors.   After returning to Senaliesse and report to Oberon, finding Ruffles there with him. Ruffles explained they solved the problem of him getting lost by "Chaining me to this big rock". The party learns that Ruvain has left the city after being marked a friend of the fey in order to lead the undead that had gathered outside the barrier away, and Oberon heals Daxis of the infection he had obtained from one of the gnome's summons. The party then hands over the ring containing the gnome's soul in the hope the fey can get more information out of him.   The party then heads to the shop in order to pick up Mons' commissioned plate armor - which the smith reworked for maximum ease of use. While at this shop the party also upgrades Daxis and Droop's armor and Ossu enquires about any kind of item that he he use to make him harder to hit (ribbit increase his AC) without actually wearing armor. The shopkeep informs him that his stock has been depleted - a man wearing a black suit, white undershirt, white gloves and a strange black and white mask had come through recently and bought out much of his stock of various things.   The party returns to Oberon when Ossu thinks to ask him about the fourth leyline location and what they should do if something happens involving the castle as soon as that barrier drops. Oberon explains the last location is the Fey Graveyard - an underground cave system chosen to be the graveyard due to its location of being one of the focal points for the leylines of the Feywild. Oberon contacts Seamus and recruits his services to teleport the party back to Senaliesse should anything happen immediately after clearing the graveyard.   The following morning the party sets out and encounters minimal interference along the way. They arrive after a roughly 8 hour trek and enter the Fey Graveyard.   Sessions ends. In game date: March 30th.
