The Sanguine Blade
"Older than any of us, and a thousand times more deadly. Legends claimed that the blade was possessed, and thrived by devouring the souls of its victims. For all our bravado, we knew what it meant when the blade was drawn in anger, it meant you were dead"
Forged by the human blacksmith Azreal at the behest of Julianos, one of the first ancients after recieving a prophetic vision of a warrior wielding the blade who instructed him it would be pivotal in the fate of Nosgoth in the times to come. Azreal asked to be turned in return for his work and added some of his vampiric blood to the weapon as he forged it, Julianos took the blade once it was finished to the members of the circle in order to bless the weapon with the power of the pillars and render it indestructible.
Julianos kept the blade secreted away from the world acting as it's guardian, the vision told him nothing of how the blade would be instrumental in times ahead, only that "he would know when the time for action had come". It was held sealed within the temple's vault with Julianos maintaining his lonely vigil for many years. This soon changed as the vampiric purge began to sweep across the land and the blade is stolen from Julianos' temple during a raid that resulted in his execution led by the generals of the Seraphic Order.
The blade was kept within the sanctuary of the order, closely guarded as a trophy of their conquest. The blade however vanishes without a trace after the massacre of the circle and the seraphic generals.
Many years later it was gifted to Wallace Williams during a celebration of the anniversary of his coronation by Morpheus who was offered to stay the night and join with the revelry of the people but he declined the offer, "more pressing matters call me elsewhere" was all he said on the matter. As he departed he warned that an assassin might use the festivities as a cover so he should be on guard, before the dawn his words held true as a vampiric assailant rushed at him in his own throne room, though he wielded the sanguine blade to defend himself it was to no avail and the blade itself was shattered during the attack. In the aftermath of the kings assassination he was interred within the family crypt the shattered blade fragments are buried with him and are laid atop Wallace's sarcophagus.
The blade was later looted from Wallace's crypt by Vorador Kane during his unholy crusade, found alongside a small note with the words 'History abhors a paradox' scrawled upon it. He has kept it as his personal weapon ever since.
