House Tchazzam   Personages   Patriarch: Dololdeth Tchazzam   Consort: None   Heir: Tunglil Tchazzam (distant relation)   Membership (Nobles): 21   Predominant Faith: Mielikki   Faction Details   Common Descriptors: Driven, woodwise, half-wild   Primary Classes: Ranger, barbarian, druid   Alignments: NG, CG   Faction Ranks   • Favored: Rank 1. You are a favored member of the House. If you are a scion of the House, you have pleased the patriarch sufficiently to gain his notice. If you are an agent or retainer of the House, your efforts to aid the House have gone well-noted.   • Lynchpin: Rank 3. You are given a position of some responsibility in the House's operations. If you are a scion of the House, the patriarch considers you one of the favored scions of the House, and consults with you on matters of House importance. If you are an agent or retainer, your contributions and skills in service of the House have won you a position of no small regard and respect in the patriarch's eyes - although that may earn you the jealousy of his blood kin who are less favored than you.   • Matriarch/Patriarch: Rank 10. You are the acknowledged and legal head of the household.   Interests   Trade & Interests: archery, hunting, bowyers & fletchers   Holdings: Waterdeeep, Neverwinter   History   Ethnicity: Tethyrian   Founded: 1149 DR   Previous Eras: 1354 DR   A house of hunstmen and archers, the Tchazzams have never faltered in their nobility within Waterdeep. Today, they are still quite wealthy, in a way that many other Houses can only remember with envy. Part of this is undoubtedly the House's deep involvement with the Fellowship of Bowyers and Fletchers, in a time when too many among the nobility considers the guilds to be rivals for wealth and influence. The Waterdeep Guard all wield bows of Tchazzam make.   In the 1350s when it became apparent that Lord Ulboth Tchazzam was set on claiming his twin half-elf children by his elven mistress as his heirs, it caused incredible scandal (the "Elf-Blood Scandal" sages still call it) within the nobility, who were stridently and exclusively human at that time. It is far less of an issue today, but folk still remember the Tchazzam name as among the first to publicly break with that tradition.   Members of the Family   Lord Dololdeth Tchazzam: Patriarch (Rank 10) • 58 years. "The Hunter Lord" they call him, and with good reason. Dololdeth has been leading hunting expeditions and lodge retreats for his fellow nobility since he was a boy in his mid-teens, and shows no sign of ceasing anytime soon. Local rumor claims that the love of his life is one of the rangers at a Tchazzam hunting lodge somewhere, who refuses to marry him because they have no intention of becoming immersed in Waterdhavian nobility. Of course, this is a favorite type of rumor among the nobility to explain away a life-long disinterest in marriage or romantic entanglements of any sort.   Tunglil Tchazzam: Heir, patriarch's cousin (Rank 7) • 31 years. Though they use the common "cousin" descriptor for their lineal relationship, Tunglil and Dololdeth are only very distantly related. Unlike Lord Tchazzam (and much of the rest of the House), Tunglil is little given to wilderness pursuits – he is perfectly happy in Waterdeep, and tends to the family's business quite happily from there. Tunglil is, however, a very fine archer, occasionally consulting with the Guard seeing to their training, and usually having an apprentice or three in marksmanship under his wing at any one time.   Dhariskree Tchazzam: Tunglil's consort (Rank 4) • 29 years. A daughter of the notable Vlenner family of Waterdhavian bowyers, who have been involved with the Fellowship of Bowyers and Fletchers practically since its founding, Dhariskree and Tunglil are well-loved members of the social set. She is simply delighted with a great deal of the pomp and beauty of Waterdeep's nobility, and relishes her opportunity to participate in it. She has become a little taken aback with Lord Dolodeth's naming of her husband as heir; realizing that she will be the lady-consort of the House one day, she has begun to throw herself into study of those responsibilities.   Riylinna Vlenner: Dhariskree's sister and handmaid (Rank 2) • 25 years. Though technically a retainer of the House, Riylinna is her sister's constant companion and helpmeet. In exchange, Dhariskree has vowed to find Riylinna a noble husband. Thoug Riy is quite lovely, she is very talkative, and doesn't quite pick up noble etiquettes as quickly as her sister. Still, she seems very delighted to be part of this world.   Mirn Tchazzam: Tunglil's younger brother (Rank 5) • 27 years. Tunglil's younger brother is rarely at home, although when he does return, a great swathe of the younger social set celebrates. He is handsome and dashing, given to wide roaming and finding interesting stories to bring home. He is an excellent hunter, and close friends with many of those at the Shrines of Nature in Waterdeep, and with the larger faiths of Mielikki and Gwaeron Windstrom.   Holdings   Resources Limit: If necessary, House Tchazzam could probably generate about 58,000 gp in liquid coin and valuables within a month.   Arrowflight (Villa)   xxx Street, Sea Ward   A simple wall of grey stone surrounds the Tchazzam villa compound, broken every so often with small decorative arrow-slits which the local youth love to peer into. The top two feet of the wall are carved with depictions of hunting scenes all the way around the top.   Arrowflight Hall: The massive Tchazzam main house is two stories in height, and filled with a variety of twisting, turning corridors that interconnect various suites. A central garden room opens onto galleries on all sides, with second-story balconies that look down on it. A wonder of engineering in the form of a retractable roof can be used to cover over the garden to allow for gatherings even in inclement weater. The cellars beneath Arrowflight Hall are quite extensive, with stores, servant quarters, and even the familial vault beneath it; they extend all the way to and connect with the cellars in the Hall of Trophies.   Hall of Trophies: The heir's domicile for House Tchazzam, the Hall of Trophies features a central hall with some of the most impressive mounted hunting trophies the House has collected over the years, including a massive green dragon head as the centerpiece. The rooms in this building are more modest, although also more private, given the Hall's separate exit onto Diamond Street. Traditionally, the upper floor of the Hall is set aside for the Heir and their household, while many of the young, unattached members of the House claim rooms in the lower floor (with the Heir's blessing, of course). The lower floor of the Hall also has a small shrine to Mielikki, one wall of which is absent, opening out onto the Household grounds.   Neverwinter Properties   The Tchazzams own quite a bit of property in and around Neverwinter, including several hunting lodges in the woodlands nearby.   Rumors About House Tchazzam   x   Known Faction Perks   Scions and agents of House Tchazzam in good standing might receive the following benefits:   Living Quarters: Rank 1+. Those in good standing with the House are given quarters within the House's Waterdhavian villa appropriate to their role in the House.   Living Expenses/Salaries: Rank 1+. Those in good standing with the House also receive a stipend of 1gp plus 5sp per day per point of Rank. This is not actual cash, but simply familial credit towards payment of Lifestyle costs. This stacks with the same kind of familial credit received from the Waterdhavian Noble Background (see Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide).   Business Opportunities: Rank 3+. Lynchpins to the House's operations receive access to a variety of business opportunities within the House's money-making endeavors. This is handled as "Running a Business" in downtime months. This does not incur a business expense, but if too many of the character rolls results that end in a loss of money, he can and will find his Rank in the House reduced.   Heir or Consort (Title): Rank 3+. The holder of one of the legal titles Heir of House and Consort of House, as recorded with the city of Waterdeep, is entitled to an additional 2gp per day in familial credit, per the "Living Expenses/Salaries" entry above. The heir is also accorded certain privileges within the legal system of Waterdeep, including the ability to speak on behalf of his House in some legal proceedings and the like.   Wealth of the House: Rank 10. The patriarch of the House is in total control of the House's finances and various holdings, established by the laws of Waterdeep.
