Iriaebor
The “City of a Thousand Spires” occupies a sprawling ridge above the north fork of the Chionthar River. This location is the farthest location that barges can be pulled up-river from Scornubel, and is a major crossroad of the Traders Road and the trade route out of Cormyr. Iriaebor is one of the most populous and economically powerful cities in the region. Iriaebor is also called the “Overland City” because it is here caravans for up for the overland journey to Scornubel, or be ferried down-river to make the trek across the High Moor.
The plains surrounding Iriaebor hold many small villages, hamlets, and thorps under the protection of Iriaebor’s Watch. The villages nearest Iriaebor are known for caravan stockades, experts supporting these stockades, and excellent horse breeders providing fine mounts and draft horses. In additional to the support of overland caravans, Iriaebor locals are well known builders of kegs and barges (arguably better quality than many of the towers in Iriaebor)
Space to build on the walled ridge is at a premium, so Iriaebor’s traders and citizens have been building up, rather than out. Iriaebor has more towers inside it’s city walls than other cities of its size. Because of this, many-storied towers rise from all quarters of the city. Iriaebor’s great merchant houses compete for the tallest, richest, and majestic or fantastically bizarre towers, assuming these towers attract business. It is know that when looks alone cannot decide engagements, the great merchant houses of Iriaebor have conspired to topple each others towers using magic and adventures to obscure the trail.
In the middle of the latest merchants war a prominent adventurer found himself becoming the Lord of the City to stop the infighting. Lord Bro believes his city could become a major force in the Western Heartlands if these internal feuds would stop.
