Selgaunt

Overview
Selgaunt is the richest and haughtiest of the Sembian cities. Its ruler is a hereditary merchant mayor named the “Hulorn”. The merchants who actually rule Selgaunt indulge in greater than normal expenditures on intrigues and power politics, as if to prove they can afford it. Between the current Hulorn, and the “Old Chauncel” (as the old merchant nobles like to call it), Sembia is the Sembian city least impacted by power struggles that may come with new Overmasters.
Population: Metropolis, 56,514 proper (mostly human)
Does not include nearby hamlet and thorp communities
Regular Forces: ~4,000+ Sembia Raven’s stationed in or near Selgaunt patrol the metropolis and the lands around, with ~1,500 Raven Waveriders (navy) across the Immersea. Sembia Raven’s are usually warriors led by veteran warriors or fighters, equipped in chainmail, medium steel shield, and long sword. Cavalry is equipped with banded mail and use lances, while archers are equipped in studded leather and use long swords and short bows. They have blue cloaks with a silver brooch with a raven.
Note: The powerful merchant lords and self-styled nobility all have their own personal armies of 100 or more men-at-arms which can supplement the Sembia Raven’s in times of great national threat

Militia: In times of trouble, 5,600 Militia (mostly human males) from Selgaunt can supplement the Raven’s. If the numerous small outlying communities are called, this number can be quadrupled or more quickly.
