Book 1 of the Astnyr trilogy is in progress.

Shield of Light

"We must gather the magic required soon. The scar upon the land is only worsening I fear,"
— Runemaster Versash

Stricord's Betrayal

Word reached Runic Towers that Crystal Towers had been compromised. The other Gods followed in their demise soon after, leaving the masters of each city to fend for themselves. Runemaster Versash ordered the Sorcerers he commanded to gather arcane energies to power a portal so vast that it would cover all of Runic Towers. The Sorcerers searched for pure sources of magic with their raptor mounts by their side, witnessing the devastation Stricord brought to Notta. What was once the Starlands, full of organic life, turned into a desolate wasteland. The scar was growing at a rapid pace, not giving the Naga much time to stop its growth.   Finally, after two weeks of searching, the Sorcerers found the arcane source they were looking for. The Sorcerers found this near Crystal Towers, a remnant from its use by the Dark Elves. They took it, painfully aware of their old allies' sacrifice.

The Creation of the Shield of Light

by AuthorChase on Inkarnate

Once Versash got the required arcane magic, he combined it with his own rune magic sources to create the ultimate shield. The runic light covered Runic Towers and its citizens. They activated it just in time, effectively stopping the scar from enveloping the city any further.   Only the Runemaster could grant those wishing to enter the passage. He allowed the Naga fleeing from Shamic Isles to enter, along with some Tigrim that could escape. However, the Dark Dwarves who sought entry were killed. They were only at Runic Towers to retrieve the slaves lost to them. There was one Dark Elf who visited Runic Towers as much as he could for some well-earned rest, Eldrinor, the last sane Dark Elf.
