Pillar of the Stars

On the southwestern corner of Nov Matar on an isle at the mouth of the Yashin Khalanim, there sits the Pillar of the Stars, one of the eight Pillars of Heaven. About ten feet across at the base and a hundred feet high, the pillar is rough-hewn out of what looks like pure blue topaz. On clear nights it glows a hard, cold white in many specs as if the field of stars had been copied inside its many perfect facets.
It is said, before the Pillar was encapsulated in its defenses, that the wise men could sit near the Pillar and hear from it the sounds of many voices singing and they believed it was the guardians of the many stars singing, and men received great wisdom from it in their time, though among some it turned to evil for many chose then to seek portents of the future in the stars from then on, though the singing voices never spoke of such.
