The Kindred Peoples

Once all was made whole and Matarros flowered with life, the Ancients looked, but could find no hint of the spirit in any of the creatures, not in those who swam in the seas, nor in those who flew in the air, nor in those who walked upon the earth. Though many creatures were proud, many were wise, and others cunning, none held the spark of the Archenlord's spirit.   So they looked to the Archenlord and asked, "but where are they of whom you spoke, the children of the Archenlord, who would bear your likeness and hold your spirit?"   "The bearing of such," the Archenlord replied, "we shall not sing, but will craft with our own hands." So the Archenlord instructed the Ancients to produce a garden in the center of Matarros, a rich and blessed place, nestled in a mist-cloaked valley. And in the midst of this garden the Archenlord stood and began to form something, not of song and word, but of their own hands.   The Kindred Peoples are the sum of all mortal kind on Nov Matar. They were created by the very hands of the Archenlord, given his spirit and called his children. They are called the Kindred because in the beginning they were. Though time and much hatred have separated them, severed their ties and broken their family, the Kindred all come from the same forebears.   After the sealing of Nov Matar and the restoration brought by the Aria of the Mother, the Archenlord made the father of the Kindred whom we now call Artas. From stone, soil and dust the Archenlord formed him and formed in him the begins of the three kindred races: giants (stone), dwarves (soil), and men (dust).   From Artas and for him, the Archenlord made a mate called Etlan. Together Artas and Etlan had six children, three pairs of twins, the ancestors of the three Kindred Peoples.
