Nova Miami

After the waters rose land became scarce and many cities were buried under deep ocean waves. Once things settled, and after a lot of burnt bodies, civilization began rebuilding. Nova Miami is in the fairly shallow area of the former state of Florida. It is now made up of 3 large artificial islands, and a veritable archipelago of smaller ships lashed together to create a reasonably safe port in storm. The island is abandoned during the "season" but after the storms have passed, people come, rebuild and fish.   The fishing is what keeps the island going; that and providing a port for the crews working the oil derricks (petroleum these days is more used in the creation of plastics, but plastics are big business.
