Eidola are beings that are neither mortals nor deities. If they are killed in any manner other than a particular set of circumstances unique to each Eidolon, they regenerate over time. Like gods, Eidola can become more or less powerful as they gain or lose worshippers.
There are a few classes of Eidola, namely: Patrons, Daimons, Personifications, and Numina
Patrons
Patrons were mortals who, through some great act or sacrifice, gained the adoration of many and became figures of legend. During their lives, cults formed around them. Through the worship of their followers, they gained immortality for so long as they retained at least one devotee. Some patrons are thousands of years old and a few were said to have been born in the time between pantheons when the common folk had no gods to turn to.
Examples:
Ophelia, Patron of the Scorned: Hell hath no fury. When abandoned by her former lover, the Obsidian Prince, Ophelia methodically murdered each of his devoted warlocks in increasingly theatrical ways, gathering a cult of her own along the way that revelled in bloodlust and other debauchery.
Eleadora, Patron of the Forgotten: Eleadora was a mortal woman who wandered the wastes of the Shadow Veil and took in fading spirits who were no longer remembered by any in the mortal realms. For each spirit, she forged a blade bearing their name and granted them to warriors so the spirit would never fade into the abyss.
Daimons
Daimons are similar to Patrons but were typically already immortal, or near-immortal, prior to becoming a Daimon. They too maintain cults and draw power greater than they would naturally have from their worshippers. They can be creatures like demons, hags, or dragons.
Examples:
Iolanthe, The Wood Witch
Cadriel, The Obsidian Prince
Personifications
Like many gods, personifications are created wholly through the belief of mortals. Unlike gods, they are not prayed to. They are accepted as a force in the world that exists but cannot be beseeched. As long as they exist, it is not possible for a deity to take up the domain they personify.
Examples:
Ktheopi, Personification of Nightmares
Katari, Personification of Dreams
Nydea, Personification of Love
Numina
As the primordial beings of Novredall, Numina are more ancient than the gods themselves. Unlike personifications and patrons, they cannot be killed because they are the very fabric of existence from which everything else springs.
Examples:
The Facemaker: A being said to sculpt the faces of all living creatures and gift them the breath of life.
Norns, The Fates: Beings that tend the yarn of Fate and send souls back into the mortal realms for reincarnation.
