World Ember Prep 2023

Week 1, Areas of Focus

Nuggia

The primary area of focus for Nuggia in 2023 will be fleshing out the history of the world from its start around the 22nd/23rd century. Once I have a finalized map I will be able to map out more concrete actions in the world to better detail what happened and why it happened. I also want to create a tempo for how warfare would work in that universe in order to make conflict consistent in the world.

Generic Fantasy World #10

The primary area of focus for Generic Fantasy World #10 will be also fleshing out the history of the world. Before the start of Worldember I am going to go back to the map of the world and flesh out a geologic history in order to better flesh out where geologic features would be. This will allow me to include better detail surrounding the history to make it more consisntent and fleshed out. Mos timportantly also not retconning anything.

Week 2: Area of Focus Prep

Mini-Meta

Scope of the Mini-Meta

The scope of focus on Nuggia during world ember will be filling in the early history of the galaxy, from the start of galactic history (~2152) to the end of The Turmoil (~2520).

Themes

The early galaxy will politics and authoritarianism, especially focusing on the illiberal democracy of the Leteiran Commonwealth.

Mood

The mood of this period is going to be bleak and cheerful depending on what area you are in. In some regions, like the Commonwealth, the story will be less cheerful because the promises of revoultion were never followed through on, and some are beginning to question if all that much changed really changed. On the other hand, in other parts of the galaxy people are just beginning to gain their indpedence, and this leads them to be more optimistic than other regions.

Goals

My goals with this is to create the historical context with which I can fully flesh out the current era of the galaxy, to give context to any rivalries, alliances, and the general relationship of peoples and groups in the galaxy.

Drama

The primary dramas that are going to be driving the story will be the Leteiran Commonwealth-Earth Accords Cold War (tenatively called the second Great Game) and then the collapse of the Leteiran Commonwealth leading to the Leteiran Wars.

Revamping Categories

Apparently when I initially made the current category structure I decided to group it by nation. I've gone back and changed it so that it is grouped by Historical Era and nation by nation histories will be defined by tags on the articles.
New category structure is as follows:

Week 3, Homepage

I went back and completely changed the homepage, the information that was initially presented in it wasn't necessarily inaccurate but the things that it touched on where not fully fleshed out in the way that some new ideas I'm working on hopefully will be by the end of Worldember. To this end, I changed the in-universe timeframe that the homepage references to earlier in the timeline so that new readers will be directed to what will be the more fleshed out sections of the world.
The specific changes that I made were commenting out all of the old stuff that was in it before, changing the primer so that it would be focusing on the drama of the currently more fleshed out period of the galaxy, and adding an "areas of focus" section to show what periods will be worked on during Worldember.

Week 4, Final Prep

So far, I've been doing some writing exercises in my notebook to get the ideas that I want to write during world ember flowing a bit a head of time. In terms of a writing schedule, the one that I am going to strive for is somewhere between 1500 and 2500 words a day, but more likely the average words will be around 500 to 700 a day. I'll probably make an effort to start writing after I eat lunch when possible.
In terms of things that I have to do, the big thing is that I have to finish up the map that I was creating for Nuggia so that it at least complete for the areas that will be covered during the timeframe that I will focus on during Worldember.
