City of the Dead

Set into what appears to be a crater, the City of the Dead is the name given to the large ruins that lay along the route to Ararholm.   Others disagree, saying that it's as if the city fell from the sky and cracked the earth below it. The distinction seems to be how you view the large shards of stone that surround the city. Some say that they're not crater walls or giant shards of stone, but towers or outgrowths of the city.   Within the perimeter of the city there is a constant fog. There were concerns at first that the fog was cousin to the mist that shrouded Maka-Tho, but tests have shown it to be nothing more than normal fog. However, the fog never burns away, even on the sunniest days of the month of Clearing.   Emerging from the fog within the city are tall towers, each with a domed look to their tops. Near the center of the city is a tower that stands out from the rest. Much taller by an order of magnitude, it also appears to be made of a different material. While the rest of the towers appear to be made of a blueish-grey stone, the central tower seems to be an off-white. Many who have seen it say it reminds them of old bones.   The last thing of note about the City of the Dead are the cables. Each building and all of the stone that makes up the strange rock perimeter of the city are covered in cables. They range in size from a few centimeters across to several meters tall. They cross between all of the buildings, forming what appear to be messy webs thrown over the city.   While there doesn't appear to be any dangers within the City of the Dead, something about the area compells people to move on. Some say that it's as if unseen ghosts watch from every window and open space.
"This place is creepy, and not because of the empty buildings." Filip Monson, Commander of the 13th Company of the Royal Scout Auxiliary
