Ducet

Ducets are the base currency of the Vintian Imperium. They are made out of fine silver discs that are divided into 25 parts, each weighting 0.1 lb and referred to as 'silvers'. While the 24 outer pieces of the Ducet are broken off with a chisel to be used as daily currency, the 25th piece, often the centerpiece ring is only used to stack the intact disks on a strings or wire for initial counting. The use of the center piece as a currency is only permitted as payment for licensed smiths who then melt the silver back into an ingot and send it back to the nearest mint on special days. Ducets are most often handed as monthly salaries and payments to be quickly deposited or dismantled into silvers at local smithies.
