Morning Glory
Morning Glory is an alcoholic drink locally brewed in Berri by Bitu Brewries; it has garnered some notoriety and popularity due to its cheap retail cost, allegedly substandard manufacturing process, and a series of exceptionally effective marketing campaigns.
Name
The name Morning Glory is a reference to an Estrerran merchant ship of the same name, that gained widespread publicity due to its involvement in a scandal uncovered by maha'kan captain Niut Asmtara; this timing had a significantly positive effect on sales and popularity, and the beverage can be found in virtually any city in the continent.History
Morning Glory was developed in 1565 by two brothers, Pacis and Sofh Bitu in the Free City of Berri; In 1566 the first distillery was opened, and the drink was marketed under the name "Bitu Men". In 1566, following the Morning Glory affair in Estrerra, the beverage was renamed to "Morning Glory" in an attempt to spread the drink along with the news. This proved to be a successful rebranding attempt, and by mid 1569, the demand for Morning Glory rose across Berri and other free cities. This led to the founding of a larger distillery in 1570 by the two brothers. In 1572, Bitu Brewries started exporting the liquor to the Vintian Imperium, the S.F.L.K, the Republic of Krath, The Archduchy of Taldir and with contracts being negotitated with Ostian nations.Composition and taste
Morning Glory is made of lemons and grapes and infused with herbs, spices, tree and flower extracts. It is most commonly served in three uniquely garnished shot glassesManufacturing process
Though the brewing process is a closely kept secret only completely known to trusted employees, this isn't due to the fear that the recipe might be copied; Bitu Brewries's process of fermentation has been deemed to be "questionable at best", "a cause for alarm" and "a rooster's call to regulate consumables" by some members of the Free Cities Board of Directors.
According to Bitu representatives, fermentation occurs in barrels of specially processed inert Tanukian Wood and poses no danger to brewers or consumers. However, Bitu refused (and still does) inspection by outside sources and as of 1572 failed to provide valid evidence for the wood's inertness.
