Early life and military service
Saherim Bin Tarian was born as the sixth son to a shoemaker and a wash-woman in Kaser, a small town in the north-werstern parts of Estrerra. As soon as he came of age he joined the Estrerran Army and was promptly sent to the western front of the The Shifting Desert. He proved to be an exceptional soldier and a good tactician but never advanced to an officer position despite being offered several lucrative service routes.Pax Venatores
After 6 years, at the age of 22, he finished his service and chose not to enlist again. Instead, he went to Vexia together with several other members of his company where he received an official bounty hunter and privateer licenses. He did some odd security jobs until he finally manage to secure a contract by the Alakaʻi to hunt a fugitive of the crown who fled to Caeris. He completed his contract flawlessly and earned the favor of the Vexian nobility who enlisted his company for a variety of tasks. Tarian showed to be a mastermind tactician and an even more capable commander. In 10 years his company, the Pax Venatores, increased its numbers from 25 to almost 300. He bought a small fleet and expanded his operation all across the Agaman Bay, sending small companies with one or more of his trusted officers to act in his name.Invasion of Berri
Following the Battle of the Second Sun Tarian and the vast majority of his company were stranded in Berri. The tsunamis that followed the event sunk or damaged most of his fleet that was docking at the city at the time. With most of his men dead or injured and the city nearly reduced rabbles he decided to stay and called all his officers, who were spread across the bay, to join him. When the Amarris launched their invasion the Pax Venatores where the largest martial force in Berri, counting just under 200. The Arch Duke implored him to assist and lead in the defense of the city, and promised him ownership of Castle Grey in return. He spread his troops along the many tunnels and trenches of the Clay Peaks and conducted guerilla warfare against the forces who tried to invade the city. The siege lasted for nearly 2 years, yet Berri stocks and markets were nearly unaffected due to a network of smugglers who doubled as guides and as quartermasters under his command. When the siege ended, the Amarrisian army suffered heavy losses and the country's coffins were left nearly empty, while Berri left standing and still free.In the service of the Free Cities
Following his success in the Amarrisi Invasion of Berri, he was offered the role of protector of the Free Cities by the Free Cities Board of Directors. Tarian agreed, but on the condition that his organization will be employed under official contract and that he would oversee its operations directly. Under his leadership the Pax Venatores functioned as both the peacekeeping and military arm of the Free Cities. He would lead the organization until his death, at the age of 108. He died in his bed in Castle Grey, while still holding the leadership of the organization. His second in command Amrius Silfervo later founded the Pacificatores, who are heavily based on his tactics and would later assimilate and replace the Pax Venatores.Morality & Philosophy
Tarian was known to be a ruthless adversary who will hunt his enemies in any way and form possible. He believed that a threat is defeated only when there is no trace left of it to rise back up and would go to extreme lengths to ensure the eradication of his foes. He was especially vindictive against those who didn't pay him on time, sometimes even changing sides mid-contract when his services could not be afforded.
