The Wizards' Trail
The Wizards' trail is a trade route stretching from the Great Wall to Vintia. It got it's name from the mass migration of spell casters that has resulted in the founding of the Vintian Imperium. The road has a significant cultural importance for the many ethnic groups within the Imperium as it serves both economic and Religious purposes.
Hazards & Traps
While it is fairly safe to travel the trail these days, in the past it was one of the more dangerous routes on the continent. Slavers, bandits and highwaymen used to prey on innocents in every leg of the route. When the Vintian Imperium rose they started with the cleansing of the road from its many threats, and did so with ruthless efficiency. Despite the thorough clearing of dangers, it is still customary to hire a body guard when traveling the road for more than a tenday.
History
Following a severe tightening of magical laws in the Kingdom of Ader and Navara many northern spellcasters began to flee towards the southern parts of Edora, hoping to find refuge in the abandoned cities of the fleeting Kingdom of Darseras.
Agreat deal of those who traveled the trail found themselves pray to slavers, who were the main users of the trail along with smugglers and other lowlife. Around the middle 5th century the persecution in the north became so severe that many resulted to sell themselves into slavery in hopes of reaching the safety of the south. Former Aderians and Navarans who manage to settle in some of the cities and town witnessed their cousins and relatives pass by them without a chance to even talk.
This led to a custom of former northerners waiting by the trail and bidding for their loved ones and acquaintances, sometime with pre-signed contracts made with the slavers or smugglers before even fleeing the north. This tradition has influenced greatly on modern slavery, especially around the Imperiun and Kishara.
