Avian
The Avians are a race of flightless bird-like people who hail from the island Parcila in the Verta Ocean. Avians are known to be a reclusive people, and are not very welcoming of outsiders in their homeland. Though Avians are not capable of flight, their wings are still capable of aiding their jumps and allowing them to glide from heights.
Physical Description
Avians stand tall among humanoids, their average height being slightly larger than that of humans. They have a relatively low weight by comparison. Their bodies are covered in feathers which can come in a variety of colors and lengths. The males typically have some assortment of vibrant blues, reds or greens, while the females are usually less colorful.Game Statistics (3.5e)

- Wing-Aided Movement: Avians can use their wings to help with movement even though they can't fly. The extra lift from her wings gives an avian a +10 racial bonus on Jump checks.
- Gliding (Ex): An avian can use her wings to glide, negating damage from a fall of any height and allowing 20 feet of forward travel for every 5 feet of descent. Avians glide at a speed of 40 feet (average maneuverability). Even if an avian's maneuverability improves, she can't hover while gliding. An avian can't glide while carrying a medium or heavy load.
- Low-Light Vision: An avian can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. An avian retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
- +2 racial bonus on Climb and Spot checks.
