Half-Giant

Half-giants typically stand from 7 feet to over 8 feet tall and weigh from 250 to 450 pounds, with men noticeably taller and heavier than women. Half-Giants are not truly half giant, they are humans with giant blood in their lineage, similar to Aasimar and Tielfing. Due to their giant blood, half-giants are weak to fire. Many half giants are outcasts in society since regular folk tend to fear them due to their immense size and strength.

  • +4 Strength, -2 Dexterity
  • Size: Medium
  • Speed: 30 ft.
  • Powerful Build: The physical stature of a half-giant lets him function in many ways as if he were one size category larger. Whenever a half-giant is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the half-giant is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A half-giant is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature's special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A half-giant can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject's size category.
  • Fire Vulnerable: Half-giants have vulnerability to fire.
  • Low-light vision: Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-light vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Game Statistics (5e)

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
  • Age. Half-giants have lifespans comparable to humans. They enter adulthood in their late teens and usually live less than a century.
  • Size. Half-giants are between 7 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 280 and 340 pounds. Your size is Medium.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
  • Natural Athlete. You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.
  • Stone's Endurance. You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled, and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
  • Powerful Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
  • Long-Limbed. When you make a melee attack on your turn, your reach for it is 5 feet greater than normal.
  • Elementally Aligned. You have resistance to cold damage, but are vulnerable to fire damage.
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Giant.
