Aeho'aian coastal guard
The Aeho'aian coastal guard is a pan-continental organisation of professional sailors and soldiers, co-funded by multiple governments for the collective welbeing of the islands.
Duties
The original coast guard was creted in response to piracy and naval invasion of coastal towns in what became the Kono'i Commonwealth, and the cost guard's primatry duty remains the protection of member states from naval interference. It expanded its remit to include protection of shipping and transport links early on and, in 1789, took on responsibility for protecting the Kuwekuli marine park from poachers This latter task was spun out into a dedicated anti-poaching task force under the banner of the costguard, spearheaded by the Mauhian government's efforts to prtect breeding sites for the Tapihana's sea eagle.Public Agenda
Protecting the citizens of Aeho'ai from ocean-borne threats, protecting shipping and trade from piracy.
History
Piracy has been a historic problem due to the geography of the region, with smaller and more isolated islands bearing the brunt of their assaults, but the establishment of the Kono'i Commonwealth helped stabilise and support smaller countries, protecting them from predation.
After the Aeho'aian Accord established the coastguard as an independant organisation, removing Kono'ian oversight and sharing operating responsibilities between contributing nations.
