Masks of Jyudrar and Zukira
The masks of Jyudrar and Zukira are a matched pair a half-face masks carved from black and white jade. They are life-sized carvings of the black and white witch moths endemic to eastern
Xohura.
Description
Each mask is made from a single piece of solid jade. They have no visible means of attachment, yet remain on the face when placed over the eyes. Despte being made of stone, the masks are said to be so light as to be barely noticable, and always fits the wearer perfectly regardless of their species.
Without eyeholes, the wings of the moth cover the wearer's eyes and ought to obscure their vision, but - according to the legends - wearing one of the masks allows for a different kind of sight, though the exact nature is unspecified.
When worn, the masks move as if alive, shifting their wings and antennae.
Creation
The masks' creation is attributed to Jyudrar and Zukira, a pair of supernatural beings from
Ilcari folklore. They are rarely depicted directly but often symbolised by a large moths - black for Jyudrar and white for Zukira.
Zukira is said to grant good luck, especially related to financial matters, while Jyudrar is an ill-omen said to seek out the cruel and unfaithful.
