The Racun Tribe

"It's better to slither your way in with the enemy than to constrict an unbreakable object" - Siska Bayang

By Colin Hemme and Sarah Ramsey
The Racun tribe, family of Bayang, is the wielder of the karambit “Taring ular” or “Snake Fang”. This tribe is closest to the now colonized Dutchian people where they have sworn allegiance to them and have started to assimilate into their culture. However, because the weapons choose the successors, The Dutch cannot fully acquire the throne of their people. They tend to lean towards cunning moves of espionage versus open-war with their poisons and infiltrators.

Structure

The structure of the Racun tribe is the closest to that of some kind of government working for the people. Because the tribe lacks a lot of strength or power of the other tribes, they resort to political disputes between different groups of people. Ketua in this tribe are elected by the town's people and only really stay for an 8-10 year period based on tradition alone and not through any law.

Culture

The culture of the tribe has changed overtime since the Dutch have arrived but has retained their main tenets. They focus on self development and therefore the gaining of knowledge. However, this knowledge is not the kind of a spiritual or planar knowledge that The Hantu Tribe looks for but physical knowledge about the world around them. This leads them to be very knowledgeable about the world around them from poisons that can be extracted from plants to the best wood type to use for weapons.

Public Agenda

The goal of the Racun tribe is about survival. They don't have the numbers or the power that the other tribes do. So through assimilating more to their way of governance and their living then they grow more powerful. They follow a similar ideal to the Dutch but actually have a connection to the land that they don't have.

Assets

They benefit from being around most of the resources in Nusantara requiring people to trade with them for goods. However, they lack much military resources, opting for centrifuge and sabotage over open combat although they can manage in that situation.

History

In the history of the Racun tribe, some unnamed demi-god came to the island on a quest. At some point in the quest, the hero had come across magical wood. From this wood he carved scaled creatures that came to life as the Racun people.

Demography and Population

Common races include Nusantarans, Yuan-ti, Komodofolk, and Kobalds. There are also members of other races around from other islands. Ratios are 35% Nusantaran, 20% Yuan-ti, 20% Komodofolk, 15% Kobalds, and 10% Other.

Territories

They have a good control over their island of Kaki Kadal other than the Dutchian presence and have some operations on neighboring islands.

Foreign Relations

The Racun Tribe is aligned with the Dutchian colonies on the island. Other than that, they are in con-tension with The Binatang tribe and the Meletus tribe.

Agriculture & Industry

The tribe has a diverse amount of farming going on around their territories giving them the greatest food source in front of The Hantu Tribe. They have had a recent increase in industry since the Dutchian people have come and showed them some of their technology.

Education

The people of the Racun tribe are well educated. They are taught about various subjects like different types of plants and animals all the way to building and crafting.

Divine Origins

The Racun Tribe worships the gods based on their needs and ideals. Like everyone they worship the 3 primordial beings. Then they worship gods like Semar because of their culture revolved around centrifuge and gods like Sri for their need in agriculture.

Ethics

They aren't a particularly spiritual people, so other than ethics centered around their laws like not committing murder they lack any religion based ethics.
