Academia Researcher

Academia Researchers are an integral part of the Academia Spire, and embody the tennant of the spire. Seek out knowledge and bring it into the light. It is the roles of Academia Researchers to seek out any and all knowledge of the unknown and bring it back to the order. It is through this study of the world that the Children of Radiance have become a part of the world, and carved out a lasting place for themselves.

Career

Qualifications

Academia Researchers are members of the Order of the Discerning Gaze who were trained in the Academia Spire, and chose tot stay in the spire after graduation. There is no way to become an Academia Researcher without a full training and high scores in all subjects of study. Only the top 10% of academia students are invited to stay on as researchers.

Career Progression

Academia Researchers can follow three paths. The first is to stay within the Academia Spire and teach, as well as perform general research and duties within the spire. The second path is to stay within the academia as a scientific researcher in the lower floors of the spire. The third path is to leave Chronwhorl and travel to study Oabos and its denizens, to bring the knowledge back to the spire and the order.

An accomplished researcher in the second or third path can eventually be promoted to a lead reasercher or head researcher role, to oversee the projects being conducted by the order. Head researchers also have access to high level information from the other spires. Cooperation between the spires is vital, so anyone high enough in rank within their own spire will often colaborate on projects with the equals in other spires.

Other Benefits

Academia Researchers play an important role in the knowledge and goals of the Discerning Gaze as a whole, and receive recognition as such. This is also one of the few roles that encourages travel away from Chronwhorl, without also requiring military training.
