Lonely Lagoon
Not far beyond the coastal boundary of Kendaria Village is a deep lagoon, known colloquially as the Lonely Lagoon. The waters of the large lagoon are very still due to the very minimal tides in this region and the sheltering protection of the land around it. The lagoon's still waters are heated by volcanic activity, extending out from the nearby Glimmeridge Mountains. The bottom of the lagoon has a spattering of exposed prismem veins which contain the magma responsible for the lagoon's warmth, and give off moderate light.
The lagoon gained it's local name for its appearance at night. The heat of the water gives rise to a thick fog in the evening which lingers through the night. The darkness of night also makes it easier to see the light of the magma shining through it's prismem shell. The light gives a glow to the lagoon waters and thick fog. Any Kendaria villager gazing outside at night would be able to see the glowing lagoon. Enough young folk were drawn to that nighttime glow that it became known as a place for them to linger when alone at night. The lagoon for the lonely.
In recent years, that has changed. Something strange has taken up residence in the lagoon. Now, on nights when the air is still and the land is quiet, a visitor to the lagoon may hear a soft keening coming from the water itself. A quiet mournful cry with no source or reprieve. The villagers no longer wander down to the the lagoon, in night or day. Now it is a place fit only for those who's hearts cry out like the waters. The few youths that have ventured down to those mournful waters since have never returned. It has come to be known as the Lonely Lagoon for itself, and whatever creature now resides within.
