Session 5: Plots in Vallaki Report

General Summary

The party made their way back to St. Andral's Church where they were told Ezmerelda D'Avenir would return for the night. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the bones of St. Andral protecting the church from Strahd's power had been stolen by none other Milivoj, Father Lucian's alter boy. Milivoj confessed that the coffin maker, Yeska paid him to steal the bones so that he could take care of his sister.
The party spent the night in the church making preparations for a potential attack and talking with Ezmerelda. They learned that this was not her first time in Barovia but that she had been here once before with her master Rudolf van Richten. Ezmerelda believes this was at least a hundred years ago in Barovian time as time moves differently on this plane. They were tasked with protecting a woman who looked like Aleksandra Kolyana and who likewise was the target of Strahd's obsession. This mission ended in disaster and the death of van Richten's son Erasmus as well as the deaths of a party of adventurers who stood between Strahd and Ireena. The party told Ezmerelda about Madam Eva and her fortune that she would help them destroy Strahd, and Ezmerelda promised when the party was in need, she would help.
Once morning came, the party went to Yeska's workshop where he tried to subtly warn them of the vampire spawn on the second floor. The party made their way upstairs discovering the bones in a wardrobe but waking the vampire spawn in the process.
