Y'mirafel of the Broken Path

Of the Broken Path, Drowned Iris Y'mirafel

"And when she looked deep into his eyes, she saw nothing but madness. Centuries flashed before her, memories of love and hate, war and peace, knowledge and ignorance - she saw them all. Despite her best efforts, Y'mirafel succumbed to the visions, unable to contain the horrors unleashed by those purple eyes."   Excerpt, Secrets in the Wind

Personal history

Y'mirafel is credited with her irreplaceable role in the plot to constrain Ömys and end his Canticle. After discovering the location of the Threaded Prince, the other deities carefully considered the avenues they might take in overpowering him. A sudden assault was dismissed as being ineffective, since Ömys would likely escape and then increase his defenses. No, in order to take down the Threaded Prince, someone would have to get close enough to Ömys so that he would lower his defenses and provide enough distraction that the others could overwhelm and disarm him.   Y'mirafel approaches the plateau where Ömys is gathering his power and offers him a moment of rest; she will continue to play the Canticle in his stead in order to give him a bit of refuge and regain his strength. Ömys is grateful that she would be interested in helping, and is even more willing considering their relative closeness. As she begins to play the song, Y'mirafel isn't prepared for the effect that the words would have on her mind. Even as a divine, the chords and harmonies begin to infiltrate her mind, and her willpower is tested to point of breaking. At the same time, Ömys becomes enthralled with his own song, leaving himself completely vulnerable to the assault by the other deities. In a final act of desperation, Ömys changes one of the lyrics, hoping to bind Y'mirafel's memory in his own. It is successful, and Y'mirafel's divinity is stripped away, leaving nothing but a memory as Ömys is imprisoned.
