Ganaha

Ganaha is the southern country neighboring Pendau, Mittelteil and Sihir. It is a rich country, known especially for it's strange forests and the surrounding mists that draw people in, only for them to never be seen again. It is common knowledge to any Ganahan that any jungle should never be entered alone, and all foragers, beast hunters and researchers travel in groups, mostly for their own safety. These groups usually come back intact, although there have been several odd cases of friends and coworkers going missing, even though they were only a few feet behind.   Ganahan government is ruled by a royal family, the rule divided for two siblings, voted for by the people after a contest of skill and might has been finished. This contest is called 'The Rite'. The rite usually includes a debate between all siblings of age, a test of mental and physical strength, a test of honesty and loyalty held in secret and finally, a test of understanding and patience. These tests are designed by seven randomly chosen individuals from all ages, races and classes. Anyone capable of reading and writing is allowed to cast their name into the ballot for a chance to affect the tests, and thus, possibly the rulers themselves. After the Rite has been completed, a vote is held, and all residents of Ganaha vote for two siblings they deem worthy of ruling over the country.   Ganaha also has a large residency of seadwellers, aquatic races and creatures that have a government entirely of their own. The rulers however, are chosen exactly in the same way as the surface's, and thus a mirroring air of siblings exists underneath, ruling over the Ganahan lakes and seas.   At the beginning of each year a Landsmeet is held, so the rulers of both the land and the sea can discuss the terms of their cohabitance. Both kingdoms have established trade routes and are dependent on each other, and thus, lose ties to each other are extremely important.   Of course, there are those who disagree. Rebels are seen (and arrested) rather rarely, but they can be quite the vocal minority. These rebels are usually guilty of vandalism and hate crimes.

Geography

Ganaha's terrain consists of large, living jungles, flat plains and a beautiful mountain range.   This living jungle is dangerous, but for any Ganahan it is only an everyday inconvenience. Nobody knows how it came to be like it is, why or where people disappear to every now and then or what to do about it. Trying to destroy the forest only makes matters worse, as it seems to retaliate by devouring entire towns or colonies whole.

Fauna & Flora

Ganaha's inhabitants can be roughly divided into two categories: the surfacers and the seadwellers.   Surfacers are largely human and elven colonies spread out across the few plains amongst the jungles, as well as the occasional Taberon warrior town.   Seadwellers consist of a variety of merperson races, each of them more or less humanoid. The seas and lakes are also full of aquatic monsters and mythical beasts not seen by surfacer eyes in centuries.   Specific to the region are also Suvana, a bovine race, slightly larger and more common in Gahana than your regular horse.   Nature is dominated by the massive, ever-growing jungles. They are misty, thick and humid, and an unaware traveler can very quickly be swallowed by the strange living trees.

Natural Resources

Ledion trees. They produce a starfruit, purple in color and easily distinguished by it's luminescent qualities. The bark and leaves of Ledion trees can also be harvested. The leaves are often either sown into armor for decoration or ground into paste for spice and medicine. The bark can be turned into rare and valuable weapons that have a nearly unrivaled efficiency.   Ledion trees are, however, extremely rare and hidden deep inside the jungles.
