Jewel Islands

The Jewel Islands are actually a single island off the coast of Sihir, with a few islets circling it.
The climate on the islands can be scaldingly hot during the warmer days of the summer, and less unbearably so during the 'winter' months. Some people living on the island have evolved to have a natural resistance against the heat, but the ones who haven't have had to figure out their own ways to survive. The most common way to do this is clothing weaved out of the scales of the many creatures on the island, including dragons, the most common of monsters seen there.
Dragons come in all shapes and sizes on the island. Above all they are seen as a pest, similar to spiders in Australia. Dangerous, and definitely a nuisance, as especially small drakes and dragonlings are as common as chickens up on the continent. There are, of course, rarer dragons, which are protected and are not to be harmed under any circumstance unless the dragon itself instigates an attack. People are mostly advised to stay away if they can help it.
This co-existence with all types of dragons has led to several interesting professions unique to the Jewel Islands; dragon-riders, herders and draconic specific vets, to name a few.
Among the dragons are a variety of different species. Most of them are nagas, catfok or tieflings along with a handful of humans.
The name of the Islands comes from the bioluminescent quality of almost all flora and fauna found there. There are caves with stalactites that light up like lanterns, poisonous scorpions that can be only spotted in the dark as they crawl across the desert in shining rainbow colours, and even the very ground becomes a living painting of lights. In the night, the island itself glows like a massive nocturnal metropolis.
The Jewel Islands are ruled by Sidole Linaya, a solitary queen and a sorceress who lives in the capital Singbal. She is also a known member of the Circle of Sorcery, and along with her royal duties she has taken on the Island's Circle Branch as well.
