Pendau

Pendau is a country that has declared itself to be human-free. This is the result of a lengthy war between humans and dryads over the territory. The war ended in a massacre and is commonly known as one of the most gruesome in Obsidian's history.   Dryads have become wary as a result. They are still recovering from the wildfire that was started as a backlash to their own ambush, even though the final flames flickered out decades ago. There is a small sanctuary still hidden somewhere as a memorial. A burnt tree that is supposedly so big, that the core is still warm to the touch.   The dryads are fierce warriors, and do not take too kindly to strangers. So long as you don't step on anyone's toes or set anyone's house on fire, you'll be fine.   The dryads have a queen, Amoeva, who cares for every single resident of the entirety of Pendau. This includes all the wildlife and even the plants of the region, anything and everything that lives, Amoeva considers to be her responsibility. She is a gentle and kind queen, but does not refrain from punishment if it is necessary.   Pendau is mostly made up of misty forests and mountains that hide the cities of the dryads well. These cities are always obscured by fog as well as magic, in order to keep outsiders as far away as possible.   Traders are the only ones to get a free pass through the forest, as the dryads are aquainted with the majority of them. Few dare to step into Pendau's forests alone, and those who do are rarely not old friends. Strangers are met with an advance squad that asks a few questions and might stick an arrow in you if you come across as a threat.
