Bleeding Glass
Deep withing the Green Island, lumberjacks discovered a strange phenomenon. Inside old Kapok trees lies a glass like structure, forming about 10% of the tree's size, shaped like the tree itself.
While it's mostly clear, sometimes it mixes brown, green or even yellow-ish brown coloring.
It can't really be reshaped, as high heat messes with the material, making it impossible to properly reshape. However, it is more durable than regular glass, which might eventually find a use.
Some religious officials, mainly those from the Circle of the Forest Keepers, say that if people don't take care of trees, the young ones will die out, leaving only the old ones, which will eventually turn to glass, making it impossible to get wood, resulting in the fall of civilization.
Another version tells that Kapok trees are the hearts of the jungle, feeling every bit of pain inflicted on it. The more people harm the jungle by chopping down trees, the more pain Kapok trees feel, which slowly materializes as glass.
