Welcome to Octisafell!

Spectra

Spectra is the only moon of Octisafell. It is about a quarter of the size of the planet. It goes through eight phases in a 45-day month. Each month Spectra turns a different color. The colors of the moon are the same colors that correspon with the branches of magic and to the gods/goddesses. At the end of the eight-months, there is a five-day period known as All gods Week when the moon turns into a beautiful rainbow-hued orb that shimmers and pulses all colors and completes the yearly calendar cycle of Octisafell. When Spectra is a certain color, the respective branch of magic and hence god/goddess has ascendancy. Their power is stronger during that month. The months and their affiliated gods/goddesses and branch of magic are as follows:
  1. Elir - Elios (god) - Red - Battle magic
  2. Zaxir - Zaxtrus (god) - Orange - Building magic
  3. Ketir - Ketuna (goddess) - Yellow - Healing magic
  4. Quinir - Quinovian (god) - Green - Plant magic
  5. Relkir - Relkis (god) - Blue - Material magic
  6. Sibir - Siborha (goddess) - Indigo - Elemental magic
  7. Gahir - Gahara (goddess) - Violet - Animal magic
  8. Ligir - Ligrasil (god) - White - Mastery of all seven
  9. All gods - All gods Week - Rainbow-hued
It is uncertain why Spectra changes colors, but it is thought that there are some kind of gas clouds along the planet's orbit that result in the moon's varying colors.

Geography

The geography of Spectra is not well-known. The inhabitants of Octisafell are not equipped to see it up close, with the possible exception of the gnomes, who are more technologically advanced. The only thing most people on Octisafell know is that Spectra has craters and perhaps some mountains. Spectra's light is quite bright, so it is hard to see what actually composes the terrain on her surface.
