"Knowledge should not be kept hidden, let your curiosity guide you, seek answers to your questions"
Maddening Truth Warlocks are those who have tasted knowledge from beyond the vale. To some, this truth is too much for the mind to handle, causing the individual to go mad. No secret is safe from a Maddening Truth Warlock, no truth hidden, no passage unknown. If there is a secret kept from these warlocks, they will go to great lengths to learn it, no matter how small it might be. Not all who follow this patron are mad; some still retain their minds. Perhaps they seek a truth yet unknown, perhaps they require power found in truth, or perhaps they are trying to find a way out of this maddening pact.
Level 1
Other Worldly Patron
Your pact is with The Maddening Truth
Maddening Truths
You learn the spell Crown of Madness. It is considered a warlock spell and uses your charisma modifier. You may cast this spell 1ce per long rest without the use of a spell slot.
When you cast Crown of Madness, instead of the normal effects, you flood the mind of the target creature with dark truths as a crown of blinking eyes forms around them. For the duration, they are driven to madness as they are unable to process the flood of dark secrets.
The spell is augmented as follows:
Target creature that fails their save is sent into madness and will attack the closest creature within their range (if multiple are in the same distance, the target is random). If no creatures are in range, the effected creature will move towards to the closest creature
You must use your bonus action (instead of action) on subsequent turns to maintain the effect
Level 6
Maddening Truth improvement
Your crown of madness may target an additional creature when cast
Advocate of Madness
When you deal damage with a leveled spell or cause a creature to fail a spell save caused by a leveled spell you cast, you may force them to make a charisma save or suffer a temporary madness
You may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus
You may exceed the daily limit, however when you do, you must also make the save vs the same madness
The madness is randomly determined from a custom madness table, the possible madness are unknown but can range from simple disadvantage to being incapacitated spending the round screaming from horrid visions.
Level 10
Maddening Truth Improvement
You may now target three creatures with your crown of madness spell. If a creature fails the save vs crown of madness or the repeat save, they take 2d6 physic damage
