Ivory Cove

Located in southern Namda, Ivory Cove is one of the most extraordinary places on the coast of the Garyialan Empire. A small ivory white beach is hugged by large white marble cliffs. The cliffs almost touch and leave a gap the size that only a skiff could enter from the open sea. Most peculiar, however, is the risingfall that runs up on the eastern cliff, and the water sprites that live there.

Discovery

The local population of southern Garyiala knew about the existence of Ivory Cove for many centuries. However, few people had ever seen it and it was more of an urban legend for a long time.
It was Kenda Otany, Garyiala’s most famous scholastic wayfarer of the eight century, who visited the place, wrote about it in her journal and made the place known to many scholars around the empire.
The first time I laid eyes on this place, I thought I was dreaming. For a second I even thought that I must have died. I have seen many wonders along my journeys, but Ivory Cove is unlike any other.
— Kenda Otany, 779 SD

Home of Water Sprites

Like many locations where risingfalls are present, Ivory Cove is home to a colony of water sprites, small creatures that could be mistaken for large insects with their glistening membranous wings. Of all types of sprites, water sprites are interesting for their bodies are translucent and misty. When they dance as a group on the surface of the water, this creates a mesmerising effect.

Presservation

History has seen many attempts at mining the marble around Ivory Cove, for it is one of the most pure white types of marble in the country. The cove has also been attempted to be used as a hideout for several nefarious types, and scholars have set up camp nearby multiple times to research both the water sprites and the risingfall.
Since six centuries, the local population makes sure nobody touches Ivory Cove with the intention of harming or destroying it, protecting the natural wonder and the creatures that live there.

Risingfalls

Occuring in several locations around the known world, Rising falls are a peculiar sight to behold. What makes them so peculiar is the fact that instead of falling into a lake, the water rises up, defying gravity, in what can only be described as a waterfall flowing upwards into the sky. They can vary greatly in size, from small downpours to large falls, and often occur in gorges in higher regions of mountains or in coves near coasts.
