Melda Postal Corporation
Based in Pallar, the northernmost of the three major islands of the Frozen Isles, Melda Postal Corporation is an ancient inland transport company. It was established roughly three hundred years ago as an organised company, but in actuality has been around much longer. Before the official registration as a company, it already existed in the form of a group of travellers crossing the Pallar Icy Fields.
Inland Transport
Since most people in the Frozen Isles live in coastal regions, most transport takes place over sea, either with ships during the warm season, or with sleds during the cold season, when the seas are frozen over. In the smaller islands, travel across land is relatively easy compared to the bigger islands. Here, crossing the stretches of ice and snow takes less time and is comparatively less dangerous. However, inland travel is not uncommon in the three largest islands. Frozen Landers are accustomed to the harsh icy circumstances and are not afraid to travel over dangerous glaciers. Throughout history, several inland travel and transport companies have popped up to carry goods and messages to the other side of the islands.
Melda Crevasse
The most well-known inland transport company is Melda Postal Corporation. It is known for the fact that it passes the Melda Crevasse, one of the largest and most dangerous crevasses in the Ohno Glacier. The Ohno glacier is one of the longest glaciers in Pallar, but relatively slow flowing. The glacier has been navigated for many centuries, and paths, while occasionally shifting, regularly travelled.
The glacier drains the Pallar Icy Fields into the Northern Sea, and bisects a large part of inland Pallar. By doing so, it separates the regions of Mel and Barra, two important cities on the east and west coast of Pallar, respectively. For many centuries, the Melda Postal Corporation has connected the two cities via the Mel-Barra Highroad, passing the Melda Crevasse.

Crossing the Melda Crevasse
For many years, the Melda Postal Corporation circumvented the Melda Crevasse. Its expert postal expeditionists knew the safest routes like the back of their hands and even argued they could travel around crevasse with their eyes closed.
Recent technological advances have made the routes around the crevasse completely obsolete. The invention of crevasse crawlers forty years ago makes it possible to cross the Melda Crevasse safely and in a short amount of time.
