019 - Session Recap

-Letters to Mother from Wilby

When we took this mission, there seemed to be a lot of things I must have missed in our agreements. When we were dealing with supernatural entities, I didn’t quite think for a moment that I, too, would become one of them for a short while. I didn’t think that I’d bear witness to us turning against each other through whispered means of a spell, I didn’t think I’d come to realize how fragile we truly may be in this limited existence.   We discovered that Luigi isn't truly bad to have a conversation with when not being influenced, through the screams in the halls and the magic that rules this place to ruins; we finally found the source of our troubles at the promise to free Luigi’s beloved Daisy.   We met a woman named Tzipporah, who vowed herself to be the high priestess of Lady Vaslylyna and she proved to be a thorn in our sides with her charms and her promises of power, enchanting Bruun and Ishka, maybe Cassius? I’m not sure if this was an act, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had fallen for yet another woman who prays for our downfall. This led to a series of events, with Ishka being enchanted by her offer, going as far as to side with her momentarily and turning against us and targeting Cassius for his ire.   Through hymns, punches, and the lack of anyone able to keep a grip on him; eventually Luigi came to our rescue, much to my surprise. I don’t know what he did to her aberration, but it was amusing to behold! We pressed forward, and found ourselves bartered between fate, runes, and demonic entities alike. My studies did not pertain to these beasts, but they seemed rather fast, with shapeshifting qualities and sturdy to a fault, though they did prove to be lacking in forms of intelligence.   Cassius managed to get through the ward, which, although impressive on it’s own, separated him some from the rest of us as Ishka and I worked to destroy the barrier temporarily. Though, what awaited us in the room itself was a bit more of a fuss than one could think of. Daisy’s screams would echo through the halls every passing moment, demons would approach without so much as an order to guide them, from crows to betrayal and a portal to vast unknown left us all in a place we likely hadn’t expected to be.   The battle was a blur, having spent most of time fighting a war on my own with imps who took the form of crows and flocked me, my own divinity having failed to sate my nerves in their presence. The only form of consciousness I could find being pulled from the back of my mind was a blade being plunged in my side and Indiana’s hand being the one who willed it. Tocu was at our feet, bleeding profusely with a glimmer of life in his eyes, crawling for salvation. Ishka was silenced, Bruun was occupied, and Cassius had crumbled.   So much had happened, and I will never admit to those around me how it scared me to see them crumble into such a state. I could only utter a weak spell of healing, hoping to seal that bridge of death for those two; just enough to keep one of them on their feet. It was Cassius who delivered the final blow. I couldn’t hear his words over my own heartbeat, but it was him who broke that connection to the portal.
