Day of Remembrance

The Day of Remembrance aboard the ARK is a solemn occasion, etched in the collective memory as a day of reflection and honoring the lives lost—both in the tragic Bravery Attack and the broader losses suffered by the floating sanctuary.   As the day unfolds, residents take moments to visit the memorial pools, paying respects to their loved ones lost during the Bravery Attack as well as those lost since then. The pools, adorned with inscribed stones bearing the names of the left, stand as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and the enduring impact of those no longer among them.   As evening descends, the community gathers for a communal dinner, and a peaceful atmosphere blankets the surroundings. The Chairman, bearing the weight of leadership and the responsibility of preserving the memories of the fallen, steps forward to address the inhabitants. The Chairman's speech is a poignant narrative, weaving together the threads of loss, resilience, and the indomitable spirit that carries the community forward.   The dinner, usually a time of shared sustenance and muted camaraderie, takes on a different tone on the Day of Remembrance. While still the familiar bland food, the fare holds a symbolic weight as the community comes together in a shared acknowledgment of grief and remembrance.   During the Chairman's speech, the room becomes a respectful silence—a moment of collective introspection and unity. The words spoken echo through the dimly lit space, carrying the weight of history and the responsibility of ensuring that the sacrifices made by those who came before are never forgotten.
