Shine -The bright turn
Shine is a two part seasonal community holiday that falls on the first full moon in Marche and the weekend before. People from all over Rivershire come together to prepare for the planting season on the day of the full moon but the weekend before is dedicated to clearing homes, farms, and businesses of posessions that are no longer needed. Items that are in good condition are gifted after the full moon Feast, everything else is disposed of. While Rivershire is large enough that they do not only sustain themselves on the farms anymore, this holiday is a call back to the time where it was necessary. Adults and older teens that are physically inclined gather on the farms and make quick work of turning the earth, removing rocks and vegetation that didn't break down over the winter. The other adults split the duty between cooking and baking for the Feast in the evening, and entertaining the children. When the sun goes down and the work is done the Feast is served. After the Feast is the Gifting. Items that do not find a new home by the end of Shine are gathered and held in case of disaster in the future for a community member. Dancing and music finish out the night.
