Demogorgon (DEE-mo-gor-gun)
A powerful demon lord, Demogorgon, embodies madness and enervation. First among the Tanar'ri (souls warped into manifestations by the raw chaos of the abyss), it seeks to drag everything down into the infinite mindless depths of the Abyss. Its name alone inspires fear among civilized races. Among other demon lords, its self-proclaimed title of Prince of Demons remains unclaimed against many challengers.
Know me then by my best name, mortal -- Quake and Kneel before the Prince of Demons, for I am Demogorgon!Once known to the ancient Aerdi people before the Great Migration, Demogorgon was worshipped widely amongst the native Flanaess tribes. However, as these tribes grew more sophisticated, their services turned toward the gods and away from the primal demons and devils of the past. These days, Demogorgon lives only as a myth, or a curse, amongst the civilized countries of the Flanaess.
Divine Domains
Demogorgon lives within the Gaping Maw, the 88th layer of the Abyss. This demonic layer consists of an endless sea of briny water pierced by tall, sharp, rocky promontories rising from the murky depths. An endless yellow mist passes for a sky within this realm.
Upon the largest promontory sits a large palace called Abysm. This structure has twin towers rising up like tightly coiled snakes covered with fin-like spikes and spines. Crowning the towers are skull-shaped minarets. Near the top, a bridge links the two monstrous towers. Beneath the palace, sporadic water filled caverns host fierce creatures like aboleth, kraken, and ixitxachitl that war against each other in worship of their vile demon god.
It's said that Abysm's towers extend so far down that they pierce into the layer beneath which holds Dagon, an ancient, aquatic obyrith lord.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Standing eighteen feet tall, Demogorgon appears as an amphibious reptile in a vaguely humanoid form. It's two arms and tail taper out into long whip-like tentacles from a brown furry body atop it's scaly legs that end with razor-sharp claws. Twin baboon heads sit atop snake-like necks and constantly strive for dominance, each with it's own personality, called Aameul and Hethradiah.
Special abilities
Ancient legends speak of the Demogorgon's hypnotic gaze, it's tail siphoning life, and claws that rot living flesh.
