Upon this point, we make our home. Good rock gives good strength. Good strength protects us so we protect the swamp. -Graak
This lair sits beneath a promontory point of rock on the banks of the Dunwater river and the Azure Sea, deep within the rock. Centuries ago this simple rock formation was carved into the Dunwater Lair by unknown means. The floors and walls are often natural rock, but have grown smooth with centuries of use. The Lizardfolk have called this place their home for so long that even their oral history has no tales of its creation. The earliest references in their lore speak of it as home to the ancestors, implying it had already existed for generations by the time it was recorded. Once it was thought that it would always be home to Lizardfolk, but after the battles with Saltmarsh it was abandoned as the Lizardfolk moved further west to provide both colonies more room.
Last year, after several decades of neglect, the Lizardfolk returned under the leadership of Queen Othokent, after being driven out of their new lair by the Sahaugin. It took several months to secure the lair for themselves from other denizens of the swamp, but now these caves are relatively safe as the Lizardfolk exert control over the local marsh.
