Bascon

where the crown lives

Overview

The richest and most diverse states in the kingdom, Bascon thrives in luxury and opulence. The inhabitants of Bascon pride themselves not only on the rich material possesions availble for purchase here, but the experiences and education you can gain at many of this region's keeps. Each city prides itself on the architecture built upon years of the labor of love and are worth the visit for any history buff or lover of the arts, but none compare to Bascon's captial city, Cronmoor. If you find yourself in Bascon's capital city, you'll have a chance to see the Star; an open courtyard with five of the most affluential churches in the land. On the same note, take care not to stray into any vacant alleys or rundown buildings: you might find your pockets have lightened.

Cronmoor is also home to the Crown and the Duke/Duchess of the keep. Closed to the public, the monarchy holds court in Daffiedelia Castle and are hardly seen in the public eye. Many view our beloved Monarchs as an invisible ruling hand and less of a court in high society. In the present year 578 the Crown is held by Queen Biana IV and King Arthur, and the governing of Bascon has been passed to Duke Alasby Lord of Alden. Each city has it's own Count that cares for the city and the surrounding towns.

A Short History of Bascon

The oldest state in Glayleis, it was aqquired by her Divine Majesty, Queen Biana Delafonatine the 1st. After a bet with the Drunken King, she took over the struggling kingdom; expanding trade routes and creating allyships with the neighboring nations. The boost in the economy led to a boom of industry in the other states as more resources were needed to maintain the path of growth.
Generations after Queen Biana the 1st's rule, the church that followed the Star pantheon began to radicalize the capital city of Cronmoor. This led to the twenty year crusade known today as the Great Culling. After over 500 years, the followers of the Star have become the primary religion in Glayleis, and Boscan is now the center for a religious pilgrimage every twenty years in honor of the holy crusades.
Noteably Bascon (although the capital of Glayleis) was not the focal point for the era of the Cruel Rule by her Majesty Queen Alexandra as she had prefered to locate herself in the Brae city Caspican. Though after the end of the Cruel Rule with Queen Collette usurping the throne there was a noticable boost in the population of Bascon.
