Brief History of the World

The world of Myth came to a spectacular end 600 years ago, with the eruption of the 5 volcano's of Ogrilushgid and the coming of the dragons. For 300 years the world was covered in darkness and ash, and the people retreated to their ancestral homes. The elves the forests, the dwarves the mountains, and the humans spread across the world trying to survive. From each of the volcanos came a dragon, and those dragons that rose from the fire, added to the destruction of the world, feeding on what they could, and hoarding all the treasure they found. 300 years ago the clouds finally disapated and the world began to warm again. The 5 volcanos which were not there before now tower over the landscape, and the devestation is still obvious across the land. Strangely, the world was surrounded by a giant wall of ice, absolutely impassible to anyone. None who venture forth are ever seen again. 200 years ago the dragons disappeared, some say they've gone over the ice walls, some say they've returned to their homes in the volcanos. The world is still a dark and deadly place. Under the darkness the goblins and their demonic lords grew in power, and though most have withdrawn deep into the swamps, there are still many who hide throughout the world, raiding when they can. The relationships between the races is strained, each blaming the other for having some part in the destruction of the world.
