Record Keeper
Record Keepers are the highest academic title one can carry, as they are the keepers of the Library of Eons.
Librarians with a twist, they work to keep the shelves organized, and their contents in good care and quality. Those assigned to higher floors function as standard librarians and/or security guards, but lower floors come with additional responsibilities.
Record Keepers are assigned a floor and can work their way up in notoriety and trustworthiness in order to be assigned a lower floor.
Lower floors hold older knowledge that needs to not only be preserved but protected from those who could misuse it. Due to this, there will never be only one Record Keeper assigned to a floor except in extreme cases. This is partly to give newer assignments a mentor to learn the layout, the contents, and safety measures required for the floor; it also serves as an accountability and safety measure in itself, as to visit the lower floors one must get approval from all of the Record Keepers in charge of that floor.
This approval process becomes more complex the lower the floor, but ultimately falls on each Record Keeper to make their own decision. Higher floors are more relaxed in protocol, often simply asking what you're searching for, why you're looking for such knowledge, and accompanying you to find it if you are approved.
Generally, Record Keepers search visitors whenever they enter a new floor by wanding them down with specific spells to dispel any illusionary or charming magic. If discovered using such magic, it is a one-way ticket to losing your access to that floor, the next floor above, and having two supervisors on the floor above that.
If a Record Keeper is found to be misusing the system, allowing others places they know they shouldn't, or other transgressions, they are immediately banned from the Library of Eons until they are given a trial held by one from on the deepest floor available. If it is found they were corrupted, manipulated, or otherwise threatened, they will be forced to restart from the highest floor (if there is space) and will be given aid to recover from whatever occurred or protect them and theirs better. If it is found they broke these rules of their own free will, it is a life-long ban from any access to the Library of Eons, and any family is also under heavy surveillance when in the Library.
