The Dark Sea

The Dark Sea is a radius around the island nation of Ogygia of murky and practically opaque salt water. This water spawns creatures of darkness (or is made up of the darkness?), monsters and aberrations that embody negative extremes of traits.   The Dark sea forms around Ogygia wherever it goes, no matter the timeline or space.

Geography

This salt water circle has a harsh line at the extent of its radius around the island nation of Ogygia. Its furthest extent is a line almost pitch black, the water so strange and so corrupted it was strictly contained. Or perhaps, it is simply unable to expand. Despite the deep darkness, there is still life under the water, corrupted and cursed as it may be.

Ecosystem

Originally a beautiful area of crystal waters and deceptive depths, since it's corruption it has spoiled and gone opaque, killing off the majority of plants and animals in the area. Most nautical life forms know to stay away, but those that venture into the waters are corrupted at varying rates, subjected to strange conditions and extremes.

Ecosystem Cycles

The Uncrossed Line spends the spring and summer shrinking minimally, and during winter it spreads and expands to a further point than it was previously at. The passage of time means the growth of its radius, and the winter seems to bring some circumstance(s?) that are conductive to it growing its reach.

Fauna & Flora

Flora and fauna that manage to wander into the Dark Sea are exponentially corrupted by the waters over time, either dying or not capable of surviving anymore.

Natural Resources

Dark Matter. That's right, you heard me. Darkness itself has coalesced and materialized into something extractable, contagious, and corruptive.

History

The island holds an ancient curse, so despite it's ability to travel through spacetime, it will always bring Corruption with it. They have learned to contain the effects, but it still has not yet been eradicated.

Tourism

There is very little tourism outside of academics, as the sea is mostly unknown and immensely dangerous.
