Aldarthurian Holy Sword

An unusable for battle though gilded ceremonial blade with the runic carvings of Aldarthuran, god of glory and battle, many fighters, clerics and paladins carry one with them even if they don't directly pray to Aldarthuran.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The blades themselves are just that, ceremonial blades not fit for combat though one thing always remains stagnant to a Holy Blade to make it work, a blessed rune depicting Aldarthuran himself, one that allows the blade to singe the opponent with holy light and burn out the darkness within them.

History

Aldarthurian Holy Blades were made ages ago, far back during the age of giants, the holy warriors sent down by Aldarthuran himself gave these out to humanity as a way to signal that he will always be watching over them. The angels of Aldarthuran used them during battle but only near and end, allowing even the most vile of foes, if they lost to the angels, to die a righteous and ceremonial death.

Throughout history the make of the swords has undergone change, constantly shifting with the ages as very few of the original true holy blades remain, their purpose has remained stagnant. A ceremonial shortsword or dagger to be able to give any foe, no matter how evil, a righteous death at the end of battle.

Significance

Holy Blades are most usually carried by paladins of utmost honor and esteem, those who have pledged their full lives to pushing back the dark constantly, yet trying to save those tainted by it at every turn.
