An illegal yet popular ritual within the underbelly and outskirt towns of Thiriel that has become more and more inticing due to Thiriels large and unstable population and heavy working culture.
History
Back when fleshforgery was invented by Dr. Ruthel as an alternate to warcrafting, turning other races into their aberrant counterparts. A large reason for this was due to the Lord In Red partaking in the ritual himself to extend his watch and rule over Thiriel.
At first it was a niche, almost frowned upon ritual, people deciding that throwing away their humanity to become stitched together walking corpses was a rather undesirable outcome. Over time, however, as Thiriel expanded and became the bustling, technologically advanced working city that it is in the current age, it became ever more inticing to magically and surgically alter ones body in order to keep up with all the demands and work of the city.

Execution
The ritual itself is performed by a Flesh Priest, medical experts who have undertaken an additional practice in manipulating Aether in order to either create life or alter the life of others.
Depending on the skill of the Priest the procedure is usually painless and quick, the individual not feeling anything during the treatment. However, most are unable to find the most skilled Priests and settle for whatever, undergoing a grueling transformation.

Components and tools
For one to undergo the Rite Of Flesh the Priest needs a steady flow of Aether, meaning it can only be done in areas of high concentration of magic. It's usually done deep in the ground, sewers, caves and the like in order to ensure enough Aether for the individual can be harvested.
Additionally, a good supply of extra parts, whether human or not depending on the patients preference, and medical mutagen to be able to attach the new parts.

Participants
Usually the rite is done in secrecy, just the patient and the priest, though in some cases when it's an important individual like when Vaubryn ascended or when Cecile became the eternal leader of Thiriels military.
Observance
The rites happen whenever and wherever as long as all parties are willing.
