Dragon Lung

Dragon Lung is a disease that affects miners in Hornfell.
While the disease is not necessarily lethal, it can cause the afflicted great mental and physical pain for months.

Causes

Dragon Lung is contracted via breathing in air in the Hornfell mines for prolonged periods of time.

Symptoms

A person may feel some or all of these:

• A feeling of intense cold or heat
• Wheezing and coughing
• Shortness of breath
• Insomnia
• Hallucinations
• Dry skin
• Extreme thirst
• Lightheadedness
• Vomiting

Treatment

While the condition can differ in severity, most of the afflicted are in such bad shape that they can't work anymore and need to take time off.
Rest and relaxation are advised for those suffering from Dragon Lung. Fresh air and monitoring temperature are critical to recovery. 
Treatment can last between two weeks and six months. It's advised that anyone afflicted take at least a month to fully recover, even if the symptoms subside.

Prevention

Miners are often advised to wear masks or wraps while working down in the mines, but not all heed the warnings.

History

At first no one knew why miners were getting sick so often, even more than the usual risks that deep ground mining often provided. It was eventually discovered that the area was dense with dragon skeletons, and it was fragments of dragon bone in the air that caused the condition to occur. After this discovery miners were encouraged to wear wraps around their mouth and nose to prevent taking in extra particles from mining. This reduced the number of occurrences greatly, but miners are still afflicted with it even today. It seems too that the more someone contracts Dragon Lung, the more likely they are to suffer from it again a while later. It seems to be an entirely localized condition to Hornfell.
