Elf

Elves are a long living race in Mera. They are known for their hardships and their attention to detail.   Originally they were the young offspring of the Gaelmer who would become Gaelmer as they got older with rituals and ceremonies. After the extinction of the Gaelmer, elves have been without their advancement rituals and continue to stay elves.   Elven culture is very limited, most elves will embrace the local culture that they live in. There are a few that try to find records of their Gaelmer ancestral past, but with little in result.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves stand about a foot taller than most humans. Most have eyes either greenish-blue or greenish-gold. They usually have very straight dark brown or black hair, with the occasional white or golden. Most elves don't gain weight easily. They are very susceptible to addiction to drugs and alcohol, but getting drunk or high is hard to do due to their strong tolerance. Because of the age difference between humans and elves, once elves reach sexual maturity they age very little over their lifetime.

Genetics and Reproduction

Though little study has been put into this field so far, elves are believed to have a slower gestation period than humans. Elves are usually born 11 months after conception.

Growth Rate & Stages

Much like their longer gestation than humans, elves grow from infant to child at a slower rate. Most elves reach sexual maturaty at 16, but are not usually seen as young adults until they are 25.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves often eat a mostly vegetative diet. They do enjoy meat from time to time, but often consume berries and vegetables with most meals. They do seem to enjoy carbohydrates as well, though they sometimes have issues with eating raw starches.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Given the lack of proper elven society, Elves can be found in small numbers in nearly any civilization. They usually seem to adapt to the local culture and customs of the society they are in. Rarely some focus on trying to rebuild or recreate Gaelmer culture and history to little success.
