Start of Geu'za Season (Guh-yoo zah)

Once the Decourean People crafted ships that could cross the Sea of Knives, a new selection of fish and other marine animals were open to them.  Of these new species, one fish became very important, the geu'za.   The geu'za is a large salt water fish, and though they are abundant in tropical waters like the seas around Decoure, they are difficult to catch due to their size, speed, and razor-sharp teeth.  Going after geu'za is dangerous, and reserved only for the most skillful anglers.  The catch is well worth the effort though, as geu'za meat is considered prime among the other sea foods, and just a few catches will feed the entire settlement.   With the geu'za becoming so integral to Decourean life, the start of fishing season has become a holiday celebrating the fisherman, and the risk they assume to bring in the fish.  Fishing boats are decorated with tapestries, painted cloth, and floral wreathes.  Fisherman board their ships to the sounds of cheers and songs.
