Olengael

Created by

Far beyond the windy shores of continental Anvoreen, at the outermost edge of the world, the island of Olengael rises from the foamy swells of the vast and empty ocean -- a blazing beacon of civilization, or what remains of it, shining against the dusk that has fallen over the continent since the decline of the Empire. Guarded from the sea by the surf-pounded cliffs of its rocky western coast, the verdant island encompasses eight strong cingdoms: Braefení, Caedcatha, Caerbraega, Maenach, Mugaenna, Rudria, Slaecatha and Tyrcaenna.

Olengael is home to an ancient and noble race, as remarkable for its rich culture and refined customs as it is for its fierce warriors and conquering cings. The Gael, from whom the island takes its name, are the proud stem of the seed of Magóg, who held sway in Scitia after the Flood. The blood of the Fárós of bygone Aegipt flows in their veins. They were rulers of An Spáinn long before the arrival of the Róváin legions. And it was fully a thousand years before the birth of Íosa Críost, that they invaded the shores of Olengael from the sea, conquering the native Danuí, who in defeat became their gods.

For over twenty centurís, the Gael have prospered in thier island homeland, achieving a level of cultural refinement, scientific understanding, and spiritual enlightenment rivaling any race in human history. Although geographically isolated from the influences of the continent, the island has always maintained a robust commerce with the mainland, from which the people benefit in trade goods, as well as the exchange of news and information. For six centurís, the nearby island of Saesanna was dominated by the cingdoms of Olengael, providing a seemingly endless source of wealth in the form of plunder, tribute and slaves.

But the darkness that has fallen over Anvoreen is about to descend upon Olengael as well. Powerful foreigners have conquered most of Saesanna, usurping the interests of the former Gaelish overlords. Will the powerful Clonns of Olengael recognize the growing threat in time? Will they put aside their long-held rivalries, and unite to defend Olengael against a new enemy the like of which they have never seen? Or will they stubbornly adhere to the traditional interfamily loyalties and grudges that have divided them for so long?

Only time will tell.
