Giasia

Giasia is a disease that primarily infects Ibrovinids. It is mostly found in the continent of Bluzaquin, but prior to 15025 AYM infections were present in all three continents. The disease was most common from 15089 to 15081 AYM, known as the Galva-Giasia, and by 15025 AYM, the last reported infections in Urnimrine and Julvahest disappeared.
The disease is characterized by an infection in the Matosdu of the Ibrovinid, hijacking the muscles and constricting them. Depending on the site of infection, the disease can also cause an uncontrollable bout of Alabia, where the teeth chatter repeatedly, and/or Muhonia, where the area above the site dies or is crippled. Either way, victims of this disease are unable to swallow food normally, and must be fed from the opposite direction.
Giasia spreads via digestion; When an Ibrovinid eats a rock infected with the microscopic bacteria, the germs latch onto the tract walls as the food travels downwards. From there, it infects cells from the inside and once it's gotten hold of the entire muscle, it forces them to contract, resulting in painful cramps and numbness. This particularly gruesome method has granted the disease a reputation as a cruel and otherworldly monster.
Following the beginning of the Galva-Giasia, it was noticed that farmers did not get affected by the disease, while everyone else did. This was traced back to a specific crop, the Eogar, whose stems were covered in a yellowish powder. The powder was typically dusted off before consumption by the farmer himself and the dust would seep through the pores and coat the cells in a flake-like layer. Many of them crept all the way the throat area, preventing the Giasia disease from affecting them. This discovery and the subsequent worldwide shipping of the powder helped to minimize and eventually eradicate the virus.
