Deep Dragon

These dragons typically live deep underground, where most would not expect winged creatures to flourish. Their breath happens to be acid which aids them in tunnel building, and in turn, showing off minerals to deep dwarves and other burrowing races. Immunity to acid is a must for their livelihood.
While typically brown in color they have also been found with grey or black colored scales.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This is a four legged and winged scaled creature that is part of the dragon family.

Genetics and Reproduction

After mating between male and female a clutch of eggs might be produced.

Ecology and Habitats

Deep dragons live underground, deep inside mountains and never see the sun. They are known to use their wings to fly about in the deepest caverns that many call 'hollows' which can be vast spaces with their own mushroom forests and underground seas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Deep Dragons can eat just about anything that other dragons eat but unlike most they can actually live off a variety of minerals and mushrooms supplemented with the meats of creatures who also live underground, such as the rare stone giants, dark elves, deep dwarves and the like. Their excretions in turn are often good 'dirt' for underground farming.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Deep Dragons are solitary, only interacting with their own kind when mating or raising their young.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Living deep underground these dragons have blind sense, tremor sense, and dark vision to aid them.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

While Deep Dragons are known to feed on other underground races it is not uncommon for them to form lairs are tunnels that they can 'share' with deep dwarves or dark elves. This becomes more of symbiotic arrangement between the dragon and smaller races. In such cases, if the dragon has developed a talent for magic they might even learn to shape shift and become more involved in the civilization around them. If it is with deep dwarves they might just become the leader of such a group (which can lead to them being seen as more of a parasite forcing the smaller race to do all the work) but with dark elves they might end up as more pet or companion given that the elves tend to live longer than most Deep Dragons.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
While brown is their most common coloring with the occasional rust red markings, they have been seen in hews of grey and even pitch black before.
